DIRECTIONS (to Stoeckel Hall)

COMING BY TRAIN (New Haven Union Station): 

Metro North (New Haven Line), Amtrak (Northeast Corridor and Vermonter Lines), and Shore Line East all service New Haven Union Station. Once at the station, you may travel by cab, Uber, Yale Shuttle, or the Free City Shuttle to your lodging and/or main campus (please check routes and hours of operation). Car rental is also available (please see hours of operation as they are extremely limited during the weekend!)

Taking the Yale Shuttle: From 7am-7pm M-F, you make take the Yale Shuttle Red Line from Union Station which will drop you off immediately in front of Stoeckel Hall (just ask for the stop at College and Wall St.). You can check the location of the shuttle via Transloc

On Saturday, you may take the Yale Shuttle Weekend Route from Union Station. Please take note this shuttle runs every 30-60 minutes.

COMING BY PLANE

The most economical flights are through Hartford, CT (BDL) or New York (LGA, JFK, EWR). EWR is accessible via Amtrak, while JFK or LGA can be accessed via MetroNorth/airport shuttle combinations.

Tweed New Haven Regional Airport (HVN) is served by American Airlines. Car rental or taxi is available. 

COMING BY BUS

Major buslines will arrive at New Haven Union Station (Greyhound, Megabus, Peter Pan). Please see above (coming by train) for directions to Campus/Downtown. 

COMING BY CAR

I-95 (New York/Boston): Take I-95 and merge onto I-91 north (toward Hartford). Follow directions for I-91 below.

I-91 (Northern New York/Hartford/Springfield): Take exit 3 (Trumbull Street). Make a left on Prospect Street (sixth light). Prospect Street becomes College St. Stoeckel Hall is on the corner of College and Wall St (second light). 


PARKING

The most convenient paid parking lots are:

  • Grove/Audubon garages (private/city owned): Access from Grove Street, between State St. and Orange St.
  • Lot 37 (Yale owned): Access from Trumbull St., between Temple and Hillhouse streets
  • Lock Street Garage @ Yale Health Center (Yale owned: first 90 minutes are free): 55 Lock Street. 

YALE: Free Yale visitor parking is available after 4pm on Friday and all day Saturday in permit parking lots (NOTE: Lot 51 is currently closed to visitors due to construction). 

CITY: On-street metered parking (M-Sat 7am-9pm) and private lot parking are available downtown and near Stoeckel Hall.  

If you are staying in East Rock or adjacent neighborhoods, you may also park further away and take the free Yale Shuttle
